Good news for Vijay Sethupathi fans. Mysskin’s action thriller ‘Train’ now has a release date, and it’s coming sooner than expected.

At the teaser launch event, producer Kalaipuli S. Thanu, backing the film under his V Creations banner, kept things simple when he confirmed the release. “Let us do it this August,” he told the crowd.

Mysskin couldn’t resist a joke

The director looked thrilled the moment he heard the news. On stage, he pushed his luck a bit and asked Thanu to go further and name the exact date too.

“Oh my God, is that so, sir? Please announce the date too,” Mysskin said, barely containing his excitement.

Thanu just smiled and didn’t bite — so Mysskin ran with it anyway, pretending a date had already been locked in.

“But Suriya’s film is releasing on August 14, sir…” he said, and the audience burst out laughing.

Thanu had to jump in and set the record straight — he’d only confirmed August, never August 14. That little back-and-forth ended up being one of the funniest parts of the whole event.

A teaser that’s already got people talking

Ever since the 43-second teaser dropped on Sunday, buzz around ‘Train’ has only grown. It opens on a speeding train that’s clearly been hijacked, with terrified passengers watching it blow past station after station without slowing down.

Right in the middle of the chaos is Vijay Sethupathi’s character, seemingly taking on a group of armed men single-handedly.

The teaser is deliberately vague about the bigger picture — who these hijackers are, what they actually want, why this particular train, and just who Sethupathi’s character is meant to be. All of that’s left hanging, which is probably the point.

A solid cast lined up around him

Joining Vijay Sethupathi in the film are Nasser, Shruti Haasan, Yugi Sethu, Narain, KS Ravikumar, Sampath Raj, Kalaiyarasan, Ira Dayanand, and Preethy Karan.

V Creations is producing, with Mysskin directing. Fowzia Fathima is behind the camera as cinematographer, and Mysskin — juggling more than one job here — has also composed the film’s music himself.
